Self Worth

Reading:  Philippians 3:4-11

I said to the LORD, “You are my Lord, Without you, I don’t have anything that is good.” (Psalm 16:2, NIRV)

A check for ten thousand dollars is worthless without the account owner’s signature.  A life full of accomplishment is worthless without its Master’s signature.

Psychologists encourage us to have good self-esteem and not to feel worthless.  But if are not living for Jesus you SHOULD feel worthless.  Your life has no worth whatsoever unless you give it to Him.  When the apostle Paul was converted, all of his former achievements and credentials stunk like sewage to him compared to the joy of knowing Jesus.

Jesus in you is what gives you worth.  If you insist on living selfishly and disobediently in the Devil’s image, than you are as worth more to  the Devil than to God. The Holy Spirit warns us severely: a planted field which drinks in rain and fails to produce is fit only to be burned.  (Hebrews  6:7-8).

Prayer:  Lord, make me a fit vessel for Your precious Holy Spirit.

Thought for the day:    Jesus said, “Apart from Me you can do nothing.”  Paul said, “I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
